Jennifer Lopez Breaks Down in American Idol

Jennifer Lopez may appear tough but that’s not to say she can’t be moved to tears. The other night, after telling one American Idol hopeful he didn’t make the cut to the 24 finalists, the singer burst into tears. Chris Medina, who, earlier on the show, impressed the audience and the judges by bringing his brain-injured girlfriend to meet them, was sent home after the 24 finalists were announced.

Though there’s no denying Medina’s musical inclination, the judges thought his recent performances were not as strong as to warrant a place on the finals. So, it was down to Jennifer Lopez to break the news for him. The singer really tried her best not to break down in tears before Medina, taking her time with making the announcement.

However, after he had left, there was no more holding back, as Jennifer sought some form of consolation in Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson, asking them whether she’d gone about this the right way. Randy and Steven did their best to convince her that she had used “just the perfect” words and that there was no better way to break the news to Medina than the one she took.

Al Pacino Denied From Golden Globes Party

While Al Pacino won a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television at this year’s awards ceremony on Sunday. Hours later, he couldn’t even get in at his own party. The iconic actor was honored for his work on the HBO production “You Don’t Know Jack,” a win he more than deserved, his fans are saying on dedicated forums.

However, after he was handed the award by Tilda Swinton and Geoffrey Rush, Pacino left the Beverly Hilton Hotel in LA, where the Globes ceremony was being held. When he came back, he was denied entry to his own after party, it would seem. Hours after his win for best actor in a miniseries or TV movie for HBO’s You Don’t Know Jack, Al left to go tuck his children in bed. He tried to return to the party only to be denied at the door.

It was about 10PM when the actor returned and, as expected, tried to get in at his own party. However, the venue where it was being held was already at full capacity, which prompted security to turn Pacino out. After what I assume were some angry phone calls to publicists, he was spotted at the HBO party again around 10:20PM. Someone definitely got fired after that one! In the end, the night ended on a high note for Pacino, who got to celebrate his win with fellow castmates and network people.

Lohan Moves in Style in Porsche

Showing that she’s taking battling addictions one step at a time, Lindsay Lohan stepped out the other day to attend a mandatory alcohol ed class – and lit up a cigarette as she drove away in a brand new Porsche Boxter. As anyone not living under a rock must know, Lohan is now an in-patient at the Betty Ford Clinic, where she’s learning to overcome a severe drug and alcohol addiction and presumably some emotional issues as well. Rule on by the amount of time she spends on the outside (she’s even been photographed on impromptu shopping sprees), one may conclude that her rehabilitation program is going along just fine.

However, one can only ask of an addict so much: and judging by this photo, she’s yet to kick her nicotine addiction, even though she’s believed to have tried a few times these past few years. As the photo attached will confirm Lindsay was spotted driving around town, cigarette dangling in a corner of her mouth, waiting to be lit up.

The car is not hers though: it’s a rental she picked up from a car rental center near Betty Ford. Also, this pic comes as confirmation that she’s finally been given the okay to be back behind the wheel. As we also informed you a while back, a judge denied Lindsay’s appeal to get her driving license back when a rep for Betty Ford told him she was menace on the road because she was always hounded by paparazzi. Not only did they make her access to the car nearly impossible, but they would also trail behind her, increasing the odds of her getting into an accident. Lindsay and her legal reps came up with just the thing for this problem: she filed for a restraining order, barring photographers from coming near her. It is believed said order helped her get her driver’s license back – which would also explain why she can move so inconspicuously outside Betty Ford.

Mariah Carey is reportedly expecting a baby boy

Mariah Carey and husband Nick Cannon are yet to confirm that they’re pregnant. An announcement will be made in the following weeks, when fans will also learn that the diva is expecting a baby boy. Though reports had it that she was 4 months pregnant back in August (which would mean she would have passed the 6-month mark by now), HollyBaby has learned from a very reliable source that Mariah is actually 4 months into her pregnancy.

Not only that, but she and Nick are also expecting a baby boy, as they will confirm in an announcement in the following weeks. Admittedly, Mariah will break the happy news when she starts promoting her latest album, the holiday release “Merry Christmas II You”. Right now, Mariah and Nick are making intense preparations for the arrival of the baby, but they’re yet to decide whether they want to raise the boy in Los Angeles or New York, the same report says.

“They are currently living in Nick’s LA home while renovations are being done on the former Bel Air home of Farrah Fawcett that Mariah bought last year for $7 million. The 11,750 square feet home has five bedrooms – plenty of room for a nursery and a giant closet for Mariah!” HollyBaby speculates.

Lohan Aiming for Mary Jane Role in ‘Spider-Man’ Film

According to the October 2010 issue of Vanity Fair, in what is her first interview since getting out of prison and rehab, Lindsay Lohan says she wants her acting career back – and she knows just the thing to help her do that, the Mary Jane role in the new “Spider-Man” film.

As we all know that “Spider-Man” is getting the reboot treatment, with a fourth film aiming to bring the character fans love so much back on the silver screen in another form. All members of the old cast have dropped out of the new project and, in part, already replaced by new stars. Mary Jane’s part is still open, word in the blogosphere has it.

Comic Book Movie has learned that Lohan is interested in it and has already taken the necessary steps to score an audition with Sony for it, AceShowbiz informs. Mary Jane Watson is Peter Parker’s love interest and was played in the first three blockbuster films by Kirsten Dunst. Lohan is now looking to get her acting career back on track, having had, in recent years, little luck in making audiences and critics love and appreciate her for her skills in front of the camera.

However, even if this rumor is true and Lohan gets an audition with the movie studio for the part, it may still not happen because producers want to take the new Spider-Man story down a different path from the three previous films. In other words, Mary Jane may even not be included, also in a bid to make the reboot a different kettle of fish than the three flicks.

The View ‘President Obama’ Talks Lindsay Lohan and Justin Bieber

US President Barack Obama has made an appearance on the chat show The View, where, among other, more important things, he also agreed to take on a pop culture quiz. Even President knows of Lindsay Lohan’s stay in jail, though he may not be aware of the existence of Jersey Shore’s Snooki or does not have Justin Bieber’s songs on his iPod. Aside from talking about the economy, the job market and how badly the US has been in recent months, Mr. Obama also found some time to crack a few jokes and laugh a bit with the ladies of The View.

The first question asked of him was whether he knew about Lindsay Lohan’s sentencing and subsequent stay at a prison facility in Lynwood, California, to which he replied in the affirmative. When pushed for details, the President said he could not say exactly how he knew – but he did know that. Another question asked was whether he’d heard the Mel Gibson rant tapes but, since this is a more delicate matter than Lohan’s legal predicament in which she’d gotten herself, Obama refused to get drawn into the debate. When Sherri Shepherd tried to force the words out of his mouth, Obama only said that he hadn’t seen a Mel Gibson film in quite a while, thus completely avoiding the question of whether he thought the actor needed anger management or not.

Though reception of the appearance on The View has been mostly positive, there are many voices saying surely the President must have other things to deal with right now than doing a women’s chat show that solves and proves nothing. One such voice belongs to Sarah Palin, who literally bashed Obama on her Twitter. “President with no time to visit porous US/Mexican border to offer help to those risking life to secure us, but lotso’ time to chat on The View? I’m headed to border in near future… let’s see how quickly his travel schedule will allow that border visit after all,” Mrs. Palin tweeted.

Joaquin Phoenix is coming back

There are rumors going around that Joaquin Phoenix has decided to come out of retirement, as Contact Music informs. There is no confirmation of this has yet been made, but fans are already ecstatic about the idea of having Joaquin back where he did so extraordinarily: in front of the camera. In the past, the star has several drunken public appearances, poor live rap performances and after making himself almost unrecognizable by adopting what the media dubbed the “homeless chic” style.

“Joaquin Phoenix’s rap career has been put on hold – he will return to the big screen as Edgar Allan Poe, according to Oscar-winning sound engineer Resul Pookutty. The Walk The Line actor quit Hollywood last year (09), announcing plans to focus on becoming a hip-hop star. He disappeared from the spotlight, only emerging for a string of bizarre TV interviews, which saw him sporting a scraggly beard and giving one-word replies to questions, and a couple of disastrous gigs. However, Slumdog Millionaire sound designer Pookutty has revealed Phoenix is heading back to acting to play iconic American writer and poet Poe,” Contact Music writes.

I can’t wait for Alice to return this September 2010 for the fourth installment of Resident Evil, Nightmare on Elm Street. Fans will be happy to learn that they don’t have to wait that much longer to see the first trailer for the fourth film. “Just heard that the teaser for RE4 will come out in front of nightmare on elm street!” Milla tweeted. This means on April 30 in the US. “Resident Evil: Afterlife” arrives in US theaters in September 2010 and also stars “Prison Break” hottie Wentworth Miller, Ali Larter and Shawn Roberts. The film is directed by Paul W.S. Anderson on a script also penned by him.

Also, the second trailer for “Nightmare on Elm Street” had dropped and was causing quite a stir with fans of the original franchise and of horror movies in general. Many were reserved when they first heard that Platinum Dunes was set on coming out with a remake for the first film in the series, saying that there was no way they could make Krueger a believable killer in the actual context. It seems those who had doubts were wrong – at least, judging on the trailer alone.

Tiger Woods sponsorships fall down?

According to the latest news of BBC WORLD, Gatorade cut ties following Woods’ admission that he was unfaithful to his wife. The drinks company, owned by PepsiCo, had already discontinued a Tiger Woods-themed drink, Tiger Focus. It follows AT&T and Accenture in ending deals.

A spokeswoman for Gatorade said: “We no longer see a role for Tiger in our marketing efforts and have ended our relationship… We wish him all the best.” Its move comes just one week after the star made a frank public address to a select gathering at PGA Tour headquarters in Florida.

Gatorade is the third company to end its relationship with Mr Woods. Communications company AT&T and corporate services business Accenture previously cut their sponsorship deals. Male grooming business Gillette and luxury watchmaker Tag Heuer have also distanced themselves from him. Car making giant General Motors (GM) also said recently an arrangement that allowed Woods free access to its vehicles was over.

The world’s number one golfer did have an endorsement contract with GM’s Buick brand, but that ended in 2008. Such arrangements made Tiger Woods the world’s wealthiest athlete, estimated to have earned $100m a year in endorsement deals before allegations of infidelity emerged in December of last year. Recent study suggested the total economic damage of the Tiger Woods affair to all involved parties could amount to as much as $12bn.

On the other hand, sports equipment giant Nike, which pays Woods a reported $40m a year, has given its support. And video game maker Electronic Arts is to go ahead with plans to roll out an online game featuring the golfer.

Cage financial and legal troubles

Last night news said that, in August this year it emerged that Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage owed $6.2 million in unpaid taxes. Over the weekend, the star was slapped with yet another lawsuit also over money, in which the East West Bank alleged he had defaulted on a $2-million loan, as confirm by E! Online.

The court papers say East West Bank extended Cage a $2-million loan in August 2007, with the loan set to mature one year later. The actor, in his turn, agreed to pay $11,590 per month, the same papers say. However, in May this year, Cage missed payment – and continued to do so for the following months as well, namely June, July, August and September. Seeing how Cage had suddenly become unavailable, East West Bank did the only thing possible to cut some of the loss and took legal action against him.

Oscar winner secured a three-month extension and promptly defaulted on the loan in November 2008, the suit states. At that time, he entered into a change-in-terms agreement that reset the maturity date to pay back $1,953,732.94 for Jan. 23, 2011. Of course, he had to fork over some money before then. But starting in May, according to East West Bank, he stopped making his monthly payments of $11,590.82 – and then missed the Oct. 1 deadline to pay $100,000 in outstanding principal sums and interest.” E! Online says of the actor’s most recent financial and legal troubles. As of now, Nicolas Cage has not been available for comment on either lawsuit.
