what captured my attention

June 16th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Ramblings, information, thoughts and ideas

Yesterday, we went to the funeral of my sister’s father-in-law who died from stroke. We decided to stay for a little longer to attend the prayer vigil before going home. My brother-in-law came in late. I was just able to send my deepest condolences after the prayer.

While going out of the funeral homes, I noticed the new halo headlights of their six month old car. I did not know about the replacement since my sister and I aren’t talking much lately. The stylish and alluring smoky angel eyes capture my attention and made me stay for a little longer to inspect the car. How I wish I also have a car that I can personalize. I’m pretty sure if I do, it would be a head turner. Hehehe

Best Classified Ad Writing Strategies

June 14th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in business stuff, information

There’s no better way to learn how to be successful at anything than by following what successful people do. Obviously can’t copy a successful classified ad word-for-word but as you study these ads you’ll start to see common elements which you can utilize in your own classifieds. Study the ads in the newsletters, newspapers, magazines, etc. which you’re subscribed to or read regularly. Browse the internet and look and the text ads you see all over the place. Consider the ones you like and think about why you like them. Respond to the ads you like and see what response you get in turn. This will further enhance your understanding of the classified ad process and increase your chances of success.

Don’t just look at classified ads, though. Larger scale ads can be educational, too. Look at what the big guys are doing with their conventional “junk mail”, advertising inserts, and big, bright, colorful ads. While you’re not looking to advertise on that scale, there are important tips and tricks you can learn by closely studying such campaigns.

There are plenty of web sites which allow you to place classified ads for free. This is a great way to practice writing ad copy. You have nothing to lose!

Don’t sell expensive items directly from classified ads. Instead, provide basic information which encourages the reader to visit your web site or to email you. Then you can find the specifics on your site or through an auto-responder email message.

Iphone 4 my ideal future phone

June 10th, 2010 | 3 Comments | Posted in LifeStyle, Ramblings, discoveries

It turns out that I will be buying a new cellphone in the next few months. I already have an ideal phone to replace my four year old Nokia N73 and that is the iPhone 4.

This phone has stainless steel case, two cameras, and improved display and is 24% thinner than the most recent version. It also features FaceTime video calling, the all-new Retina Display with a remarkable 960-by-640 resolution in a 3.5-inch screen, HD video recording, a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, iBooks, iMovie applications and more.

Weighing in on the 3.5-inch Retina display, Apple claims it has 960 x 640 pixels – four times as many pixels as the iPhone 3GS, and 78 percent of the pixels on an iPad, for comparison. Going great with the improved screen is the improved camera with 5-megapixel autofocus, 5x digital zoom, a backside illuminated sensor, and built-in LED flash for shooting in dark environments. The built-in Photos app has also been enhanced, while users will be able to enhance and edit the videos taken with iPhone 4 thanks to the new iMovie app.

I really love its features and its look too. So, even if it’s not out in the market yet, I will wait for it. Actually, I will start saving now for me to get hold on this phone in the future.

New Discovered Treatment for Blindness

World’s first stem cell therapy to cure the most common cause of blindness has been developed by British researchers. The research team believes that the procedure, which can tackle age-related macular degeneration (AMD), will become a routine, one-hour method that will be generally available in six or seven years’ time.

The treatment was pioneered by scientists and surgeons from the Institute of Ophthalmology at University College London and Moorfields eye hospital, and involves replacing a layer of degenerated cells with new ones created from embryonic stem cells. In the new treatment, embryonic stem cells are transformed into replicas of the missing cells.

They are then placed on an artificial membrane which is inserted in the back of the retina. Tom Bremridge, chief executive of the Macular Disease Society, said: “This is a huge step forward for patients. We are extremely pleased that the big guns have become involved, because, once this treatment is validated, it will be made available to a huge volume of patients.”
