Copywriting tips to boost your reader

December 1st, 2009 | 3 Comments | Posted in business stuff, information, thoughts and ideas

Copywriting tips to boost your readerBasically, copywriting is the use of words to promote a person, business, opinion or idea. Although the word copy may be applied to any content intended for printing the term copywriter is generally limited to such promotional situations, regardless of media as advertisements for print, television, radio or other media. Here are some tips in copywriting:

  • Be Emotionally Compelling – your words must have power so people take action and buy. Don’t be dry, stuffy or boring. Rock their world. What you think is a little “over the top” is probably just right. Show them empathy, caring and concerns that make them feel connected and help them quickly suspend their rational disbelief.
  • Learn to Write Great Headlines – this valuable skill is not to be taken lightly. You need to use numerous headlines in a sales letter. They need to grab your customer’s attention. Look at advertising headline in major magazines. Experts say a good headline can result in 8-10 times more sales than a so-so headline.
  • Use Magic Words not Tragic Words – use words like “amazing, discover, breakthrough, free, happy, money, you, yes, incredible and others. Magic words positively pre-dispose people to your message. Don’t overuse but don’t underestimate how far a little hype can go. Also, use vocabulary at an eighth grade level or less.
  • Ask Questions – questions draw readers in and make them get involved. The smart money is on asking only questions you know will get a “yes” answer. Get potential customers in the habit of saying “yes” so when you ask them to buy they are positively prone to say “yes” again. Read the rest of this entry »

Danger of No Credit Check Loans

November 14th, 2009 | 3 Comments | Posted in business stuff, money management

Danger of No Credit Check LoansWe always thought that it could never happen to us, but before you knew it the front two tires of your car gave out and you still had five days to go until payday. You need your car to get to work and to pick up the kids from school, and since your credit card is maxed out and you have no money in savings, you need some cash fast. Sounds familiar?

This scenario happens day in and day out at a myriad of households. While many have the luxury of putting two new tires on a credit card and then repaying the card when the paycheck comes in five days later, others do not have that option and suddenly the no credit check loans advertised on daytime and late night television look attractive.

Probably you have seen the ads that talk about getting money wired into your account fast, with no credit check, no hassle, and no documentation needed. Payday loans which are another term for no credit check loans are intended to tide over those who are a few hundred dollars short in between paydays. The advertised theory behind the practice stipulates that a consumer may have a sudden emergency for which she or he did not budget.

To meet the financial demand, the consumer can borrow against her or his next paycheck simply by applying for one of the no credit check loans, and within hours the money is in the account. To repay the loan, the consumer will write a postdated check which will be kept in the office of the payday loan agent. Once the payday comes around, the agent will deposit the check, the loan is paid, and all things being equal there is no problem.

Tips to say “No”

October 24th, 2009 | 1 Comment | Posted in business stuff, thoughts and ideas

NoThe most common remedy for improving your time management is to develop the ability of saying, “NO.” Since it is easier to recommend than to do, here are some tips on how to do it.

  • Start with your own attitude. What is your self perception when you say, “NO?” Do you see yourself as a slacker? What about the perception of others, are you concerned about what others think of you? Are their opinions influenced by your refusal and does it really matter? Be truthful in your answers and your decision. We are forced to say, “NO” when we become overwhelmed by work, stress, or when a loved one delivers an ultimatum. Why not do the same when you’re managing for more success?
  • Once you have made your decision to say, “NO” more often, your commitment is now a matter of discipline. Self-discipline is not a dirty word when we recall savoring the joy resulting from just a little improvement. Just practice all the techniques you’ve used successfully in the past. It’s only natural for others to point to those who are the most vocal which is not same as selecting the most competent. Resist and recognize ego stroking for what it is.
  • Replace the task refused with something better. You can contribute a lot without being put on a committee or doing every task requested of you. Counter with, “Do you want me to forsake doing (one of your more meaningful contributions)?” Or, defer to other, more competent, persons.
