After more than a year, I am now planning to buy a new laptop to replace my current one. It is not that I don’t like it anymore. The main reason is that I already become a gaming enthusiast. Actually, I have the option to use my PC at home, but that would mean I have less mobility. I want something that I can carry whenever I want to use it like in our bedroom, dining room or even the cafeteria or hot spots in town. Also, battery is a big concern. The longer the life the better it is. That’s why I am so happy to hear about MSI’s latest model, the X-Slim X360 that promise to set a new standard.

The X-Slim X360 is described by MSI as “the apex in slim computer technology” and uses “brilliant blending of the X360′s rhombic and diamond designs.” This stylish aspect only supplements the laptop’s specs, however, as the company promises not only a good performance but also a battery life on par with, if not better than, that of many netbooks.

The new mobile computer is based on the Intel HM55 chipset and is powered by the Intel Core i5-520UM central processing unit. This CPU leverages up to 4GB DDR3 SO-DIMM memory and an SATA 2.5-inch hard drive with 250GB, 320GB or 500GB of storage. Also, the integrated graphics are taken advantage of through the laptop’s 13-inch HD (glare type) screen, whose maximum resolution is of 1366 x 768 pixels.

These specs are already noteworthy for an ultra-thin PC and they are complemented by matching connectivity and I/O options. More specifically, the X-Slim X360 has RJ-45 LAN, 802.11 b/g/draft n WiFi, Bluetooth V2.1+EDR, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, HDMI out, two USB ports, two speakers and even mic-in and headphone-out jacks.

All these components are somehow packed inside a frame measuring 324 mm (W) x 227 mm (D) x 6~22.5 mm, along with a 4/8-cell battery, which supposedly enables a life of up to an impressive nine hours. The laptop weighs about 1.4 kilograms.
